4 Drugstore Foundations Reviews

Hello lovelies! So recently I have been on the hunt for a new drugstore foundation. I had become so used to using the more higher end brands that I just couldn't seem to be able to find myself loving one as much as I did the NARS sheerglow. Ever since trying my first high end foundation I became so set in the mindset that you get what you pay for so I never ventured into shops like Boots or Superdrug when I wanted a new foundation. Terrible of me I know..haha. However at £32 a bottle I also wanted to be able to have that drugstore alternative there which was just as good and I could wear on a more everyday basis at college and just see if what I thought about you getting what you pay for is a load of ol trollop. I had heard so many different recommendations from bloggers and YouTubers ranging from the Rimmel 25hr lasting finish to the Bourjois healthy mix so what did I do?! I went out and picked up a fair few! and I thought I would share my thoughts on them with you all and my overall experience.

Obviously before I start everybody's skin is different so if I don't like a foundation that you absolutely love please do not be offended this is just how I personally felt like they worked on my skin and everybody is not the same at the end of the day. I have I guess combination to normal skin but I tried to pick just a range of random drugstore foundations so some were never going to suit my skin type but for some of you lot they might be perfect. I just don't want you to go out and buy one that I've said is really good and then be disappointed so please bear in my mind that not all of these will for work for you either :)

The first thing I found out when going to buy a high street foundation is finding your shade is far from easy especially when you are as pale as I am. Casper the ghost over here haha. Whenever you go to a high end stand they match you and you know you'll be getting the right shade but not when it comes to high-street oh no! Even though they do have testers half of them were missing and you're still on you're own having to figure out which shades going to work for you and if i'm honest I left feeling that every foundation I had bought was not going to be the right shade and here in the UK returning your makeup isn't something we can do danggit! Obviously, testing on your face is the only way you're going to know if its going to match because the back of your hand is far from the same colour but with terrible lighting, few shades to go on and barely a mirror to call for or anything to wipe off that foundation which has now left a grimey orange streak on your jawline (note to self remember wipes or tissues next time) I can't say I enjoyed my venture into buying a highstreet foundation.

1) Bourjois Healthy Mix

The first one I picked up was the Bourjois healthy mix foundation in the shade "Light Vanilla". Now if I am going to perfectly honest I absolutely hate this foundation. The first time I used it, the foundation stuck to all my dry patches (I don't even have that many eesh) it lasted barely anytime at all which is a big thing for me as I don't have a lot of time during the day to be able to top up at college and it also just went really patchy and gross. I have heard a lot of people say they love this too but it just personally didn't work for me and I was so diappointed because I was expecting a lot more from it. It has a very light- medium coverage and i'd say a natural matte finish so if that is something you personally like or you have quite good skin then maybe give it a try but for me it was far from worth the £10 it cost me. If you do want to try this it's available in Boots and Superdrug.

2) Rimmel Wake Me Up

Next I picked up the Rimmel wake me up in the shade  Ivory. OMG this foundation is so good not amazing but still so good. I love the bright packaging it comes in and the fact the bottle is glass making it feel a bit more pricey if you know what mean and it just looks really lovely. Now I know its in the name but it really does make you look more awake and I feel its one of very limited foundations which lives up to the claims on the bottle. it says it gives you a radiant glow and look less tired which is so true it does! If you look carefully it has a very light sort of shimmer in it but its not excessive at all, you can hardly notice it in the bottle or even on your face but it definitely still helps to give that overall dewy look. I found this foundation to have a medium coverage which you can build on if you want and it just blends in really easily. A little added random bonus is it smells really nice and not like some foundations which smell like well paint .. haha. It lasted really long and throughout the day however I wouldn't recommend it to people with oily skin because it is very dewy and where I had it on and my skin was oily it did slip away slightly. 

3) Maybelline Dream Satin Liquid Foundation

When it comes to buying foundations I always to tend to go for more dewy foundations along the lines of anti-fatigue and satiny flawless ones so trying this was a no brainier for me! Without a dewy foundation I just feel my skin looks very dull. So I like ones-which are going to make it look a lot more healthy and brighter. This was the cheapest one I bought but also one of my favourites. It lasted well throughout the day and blended really easily and smoothly into my skin although when I pumped some onto my hand it seemed very thick and moussey almost. It was just one of them foundations which felt really nice to apply and it also made my skin look really flawless and I didn't have any visible pores. It just works. I got this in the shade ivory and its a very heavy high coverage foundation. I do think however this shade wasn't great for me as it did leave a slight orange tinge. 

4) L'Oreal Paris Infallible 24hr

Now I loved this first off because it works so well for pale skin aka mine!  I got this in the lightest shade 015 Porcelain which means it has pink undertones for me personally this is perfect but for others maybe not. The foundation itself is quite difficult to blend its very thick and it feels like you are dragging it across your face however after a few attempts I found applying it with a blending sponge that's been spritzed with water a lot better of an option than using a brush (which left icky brush marks eugh) and after that it was very easy to blend. It is very high coverage but I wouldn't say it would last the 24hrs not that I have tested that theory nor do I need it too haha.  When I first put it on I was a bit like oh this has a matte finish which i'm not a fan of but after it had set a bit it actually when really quite dewy and so many people have complimented me and asked what foundation i'm using when I wear it which is a good sign! So yes I must say i do quite like this.

I'd say the two I would definitely repurchase are the Rimmel Wake Me up and the L'Oreal Paris Infallible 24hr. I'm so happy I have found these foundations and happy I have them in my collection now. They are good!

So that is 4 of the drugstore foundations that I have tried and tested as they say. I do have more which are currently undergoing the test from me so I will be sure to review them for you in the near future and this can be like a two part post which I will do unless you really did not like this but I'm sure if you didn't you wouldn't have read this far :p

Clarins Beauty Flash Balm

I have always wanted to give this a go and try it, so when my much loved Clinque primer was all used up ( I even cut the bottle in half and scraped every last bit out) I contemplated investing in it but ended up choosing the more poopy Elf one which gave me red irritable patches:( but long behold my sister brought me this back from Duty Free and oh my gosh it is friggin incredible. Honestly this product is AWESOME!

It creates such a good flawless base and you can really feel it tighten your skin and see the glow, the only issue I found is to me it smelt slightly grannified if that's even a thing?;) or that bar soap you were forced to use as a kid in school (I hated that stuff!), but once you get past the smell this product is a real gem. It doesn't irritate my skin and it has been lasting absolutely ages. I've had it over a month now and I still have at least half of it left. Definitely a worthwhile investment :) 

Estee Lauder Lipstick- 301 Crystal Baby

This lipstick is  super pigmented and the most gorgeous of pinky nude shades. I am very impressed with it, definitely worth the money!.
I also LOVE the smell, it reminds me of forest fruit frubes haha.
I have been wearing this everyday constantly, it goes with everything and isn't drying out on the lips in any way it's extremely moisturising and has replaced my MAC Myth satin lipstick as my favourite. 
Also it lasts a decent amount of time.
It is simply fabby:)

Soap And Glory Thick And Fast Mascara 

I struggled so much finding this mascara because every time I went to buy it, it was out of stock and I didn't want to buy it online as a single item and have to pay delivery.

I'd heard everyone rave about it and of recent Velvetgh0st did on her channel, so I really wanted to give it a go.I did however, manage to find it in a store further away from me and obviously I bought it straight away.I actually really love the effect this mascara has on the eyes and the way it applies. The rave was certainly within reason. It is really high quality and doesn't have a cheap tacky smell to it and of yet *touch wood* not caused my lashes to clump.

Although, I must say it hasn't removed or replaced my love for the benefit roller lash or Maybelliene big eyes, it's just a good alternative for when I am in need.

But all praise Soap And Glory for this fabby mascara!

Yeo Valley Limited Edition Papaya And Lime Yoghurt

Yes, yes I have included a pot of yoghurt in my favourites..haha..but I have just loved this yoghurt and it's been one of my favourite things this month so it's only right I include it isn't? When I first saw this on the supermarket shelf I can't say it appealed to me because it just seemed such an odd flavour and i'm pretty sure the only reason I decided to buy it was because I loved the packaging (good enough reason right?;)). Anyway this yoghurt is actually so so good and tastes nothing like you'd expect it to! It isn't laugh your ears off tangy but it isn't sickly sweet either it's just the perfect balance. The best part is it is good for you and healthy and tastes amazing with a whole array of fruit especially raspberries and blueberries:) as the flavour isn't that strong or overpowering and it just makes me want to eat breakfast which I always try to avoid because I am not a breakfast person at all.

Orphan Black

 I had been contemplating watching this for months on Netflix after so many people were raving about it and telling me to watch it. When somebody first mentioned it to me I was honestly like oh my gosh that sounds really dark and gory (there is moments when I do squeal and have to run out the room;)) and just not my sort of program at all so I put off watching but I finally did it and watched an episode and it is honestly so so good! I'm not going to say too much so not to spoil it, but if you haven't watched it and your into programs such as PLL (pretty little liars) and Once Upon A Time definitely watch it and give it a chance as I am sure you will love it and get hooked after the first few episodes just like I did:)

Glowing Review

Did somebody say review? I think they did. Candles are a necessity. If I could have them lit in every room of the house, at every hour of the day I would do. I would buy a candle every time I ventured outside of the house if possible. This feels like my first proper review in a long while (more to come I promise) and it is definitely my first along the homely sort of line but at 17 I can honestly say I am simply obsessed with homeware and anything in relation! I love every aspect of things such as interior design and constantly wish I could rearrange my bedroom a different way because I love doing so! Nobody understands my excitement for the day I am able to move out for the reason I can buy lots of homeware ( how sad..haha)

Onto the review itself I actually got this candle around Christmas time I think?;).. I know haha that was a long time back but it just looked so pretty and perfect. I had something inside me that wouldn't let me burn it and instead used it as an ornament and left the scent to diffuse naturally until it collected a thick cloud of dust on it from being kept on a shelf for months;) 

Let's begin by talking about the packaging. I absolutely love the packaging I am going to be honest.It’s pretty and girly and consists of a gorgeous swirly pattern but also the use of a more deep plummy purple in contrast to the white stops it from being too girly and doesn't look childish and out of place in a home. I really love the pattern detail on the label and it just makes for really sophisticated professional packaging. It's just so pretty!:) As odd as this may sound the packaging feels very suited to the scent, when I look at the packaging, I imagine it to be the scent that candle is, ( I know that sounds totally bonkers but think about it this way pretty pink packaging you would think fruity/floral scent straight away right?;))..I was also impressed with the size, the candle is of a generous size and I can see it lasting quite a while (I think it's supposed to burn for 40 hours which is AHMAZING).

This has to be one of my favourite candles in a long while. I adore the smell. Many have said it smells like like Earl Grey tea but don't don't be put off by that . I have never had Earl grey tea so I can't compare. It has a very sweet "candy" smell to it with floral and citric notes.I know that probably sounds a right mismatch of smells ( I'm terrible at describing scents I know;))..But honestly it smells incredible!

 I found as I burnt it the wick it isn't the fattest so trying to burn the full tin of it out isn't all that easy so make sure to keep it somewhere flat and then you should have no problems with it.

Honestly I have nothing more to say about this gorgeous candle,I would repurchase it but it could have been made a bit better maybe if the candle wasn't white as I love something vibrant but that isn't anything major. & I do find the smell lingers & leaves my room smelling beaut:).

Review: Bourjois 123 Perfect Foundation

I heard quite a hype around this foundation and after I tried out the BB alternative  I decided at some point I would have to buy the foundation . I had run out of my well used trusty Rimmel Match Perfection and long behold my mum came home having bought me the foundation.

                             

      

First off this is by far the better of foundations by Bourjois. There is a wide range of different shades available which being honest made it quite frankly difficult to decide on the right one because there was little differentiation between them. Something I did pick up on however is every time I have seen this foundation about there has never been darker shades for people sort of past I would say olive skin tone. Literally NONE. This seems something that happens a lot with Bourjois though because other foundations they make also don't have darker shades. 

The packaging is..average not the worse but not amazing. It's in a glass bottle which for travelling isn't all that great. However the foundation does have a pump which makes dispensing the product so much easier and less messy!  It's got the main ingredients listed and makes clear the products intentions/benefits. One thing I did notice however is the coverage wasn't mentioned. 

The foundation has a slight floral scent to it...this doesn't bother me too much but to people who prefer a foundation without a scent it might be.
From using the product myself numerous times I think the foundation gives (i'm guessing as I said they haven't stated) a medium to buildable coverage. It is quite a thin, runny consistency, however not watery and it is thicker than that of their Healthy Mix foundation.  I would say using your fingers to blend it isn't the best of ideas but instead using a brush which is a lot denser because at times it can be difficult to blend and it also sets quite fast so you have to work quite quickly.

Regarding the pigments, I can't comment on the green as I don't really suffer from any redness bud I did feelas if it hid dark circles well without the use of any concealer and my skin definitely did looked brighter and healthy overall.Another "claim" Bourjois make is that the foundation offers 24hr hydration, Yes it is hydrating foundation I agree with that and did not feel as if it dried my skin out but for no more than a measly two hours if that, nowhere near a day!

The finish I love. I am normally a sucker for a dewy finish foundation but this foundation gives I wouldn't say too matte but quite a powdered finish and doesn't look cake or unnatural in any way.It doesn't always work how you want it to though and at times can leave you looking patchy and with orange streaks.

Overall, I am a bit on the fence with this foundation and not sure if I would try it again, but it isn't the worse foundation I have tried!
